It is a holy place. The land, where the Mantralayam is situated is given by the king Nawaab Siddi Masud Khan. Shri Ragavendra swami is also called as Manchale Ragappa’ by his ardent followers. The nearest railway station is Mantralaya Road, 16 kilometres away. This station is on the Guntakal - Raichur railway route. There are frequent bus services from Adoni,Yemmiganur, Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh and from Raichur and Bellary inKarnataka,Mantralaya is about 53 km fron Adoni,24 km fron Yemmiganur,100 km from Kurnool and 250 km from the state capital Hyderabad, 35 km from Raichur and 120 km from Bellary. Rangaventra  swami's original name was "venkatanada". He was born with blessings of lord vishnu. He was sent to lakminarasimhacharya for further education. He acquired a depth knowledge in vedas, upanishads, six sastras in a short span. He was married to Saraswati Bai and had a son Sri Lakshminarayanacharya. He took sanyasa by leaving his family. He was treated as a another avathar of bakta Prahalada. He has done many miracles by changing the meat into flowers, re giving life for a child etc. He was attained "Jeeva Samadhi" in 1671. While he attained "Jeeva Samadhi" he told that he will live in that place for over 700 years as a sole. Mantralayam is being visited by n number of devotees of guru ragavendra daily.
