Golu - A figurine display festival celebrated in southern part of India every year between September - October. Most of the dolls displayed in the golu depicts certain events from Puranas, court life, royal procession, ratha yatra, weddings, everyday scenes, miniature kitchen utensils and so on. "Marapachi Bhommai" (Wooden Doll) plays vital role in Navrathri Golu. The primordial way of arranging dolls has now refashioned with the modern trend. Theme based Golus are now in fashion.
Temple Based Theme:
TamilNadu is a land of temples. There are many prominent temples available in Tamil Nadu and dolls of those can be displayed in Golu. Temple Based golu which I have seen includes temples like
1. Malaikottai
2. Kerala Bhagavathi Temple
3. Marundeeswarar Temple
4. Tanjore Big Temple
5. Puri Jeganath Temple
6. Palani Temple
and so on.
Marriage Based Theme:
India has a tagline "Unity in Diversity". It is one of the most oldest and diverse culture. Marriage traditions would differ communally and regionally. I experienced a theme with few events like
1. Traditional Hindu South Indian Marriage
2. Traditional Hindu North Indian Marriage
3. Traditional South Indian Tribal Marriage
4. Traditional North East Tribal Marriage
Mythological Theme:
The Hinduism based mythological stories are numerous. One of the theme had

2. Krishna Story
3. Pittukku Man Sumandhu (Lord Shiva carried sand bags for Puttu (Kerala Dish))

5. Ganesha Niyana Pazhalam Story (Story about Lord Ganesh activity on getting mango)
