Dr Venkataraman Ramakrishnan son of Dr. C. V. Ramakrishnan and Rajalakshmi a Structural Biologist at cambridge medical research council. He was a noble price winner in Chemistry for the year 2009. He was born in 1952 in chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his undergraduate at Annamalai university, Tamil Nadu and did his Masters at university of baroda and his P.h.d in physics from Ohio University, USA. He placed his foot in the fields like Bio Chemistry, Bio Physics and Computational Biology. He has published more than 90 research papers. He was the person who determined the structure of 30s subunit of ribosome and its complexes with several antibiotics. He is going to be awarded the noble price with 1/3rd of total price of $1.4 million on December 10 2009.
